The film
Kamikaze is a French film comedy with futuristic themes like world domination by means of the television. The film was directed by Didier
Grousset, but Luc Besson co-wrote the scenario and helped produce the film.
The music
Serra's score for this film has been released on CD, but it is extremely
hard to find.
A lot of the music is genuine eighties style, with electronic drums, and
a lot of disco influences. It's very different in style from the funky music
Serra made for Subway a year earlier. He plays bass guitars in a simular
style but the cold poppy synthesizer arrangements give this an entirely
different feel. Some portions remind of the score for Nikita that Serra
did years later. Other pieces feature acoustic piano, electric guitars,
resulting in light instrumental pop music.
The Kabuki Plan is a disco song, and "Does Everybody Love Somebody" is
a soft, jazzy ballad, Both were sung by Guida de Palma.
